When Ringo fell ill with tonsillitis the day before the tour he was told he had to stay in hospital while he recuperated, meaning he couldn’t go on tour. George didn’t want Ringo replaced so he refused to go on tour without him before George Martin convinced them to go on with Jimmy Nichol. Ringo rejoined them in Melbourne on the 15th of June.
